Second Saturday
Join us at Battle Point Observatory Saturday, June 14th at 7 pm
for another riveting Second Saturday Science Talk!
Guest Speaker: Zoe Bozich
Clusters of stars are excellent laboratories for astronomers, looking to better understand stellar populations and evolution. Constraining the ages of these clusters, however, can be highly sensitive to stellar evolution model assumptions. Zoe, a master’s student at San Diego State University studying stellar evolution, will take us through the background of what stellar clusters are and the challenges involved in estimating their ages, and then show us how empirical data from the GAIA mission may provide an alternative method of cluster age-dating.
Zoe will be joining us on Zoom, and after the talk Erin will take the in-person attendees on a trip through the solar system and beyond!
