Battle Point Observatory rounds out our inspiring three-part fall book club on Women Who Changed the Universe on Tuesday, October 27 over Zoom at 6:00 pm. This final meeting we’ll discuss Find Where the Wind Goes: Moments From My Life by Dr. Mae Jemison.
Haunted Hayride Returns to Battle Point Park
The annual spooky & family-friendly tradition continues! Haunted Hayride will be at Battle Point Park on October 20-22, 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm. This year’s theme is “Alien Invasion!”
BPO Gear Update: DWARF Mini Smart Telescope
You may have seen a new telescope in use at a recent Star Party, the DWARF Mini Smart Telescope. It’s pocket-sized (weighing only 840g) with an intelligent control system, and has been fun to use! The variety of smart tools and auto-tracking make it easy to take some great night sky images.
Astrophotography Special Interest Group (ASIG)
The next meeting of the Battle Point Observatory’s Astrophotography Special Interest Group will be on Saturday, October 17th, at 11 AM in the Gardiner Library inside of the Battle Point Observatory.

To kick off Fall, we’re excited to have guest presenter Marshall Bonow for an engaging and fun event, “The Magic of Science”! With a combination of science talk plus magic show, Marshall shares fascinating scientific concepts and a magical scenario to demonstrate the power of scientific phenomenon.
Women Who Changed the Universe – A Women in STEM Book Club
We’ve already discussed the accomplishments of Marie Curie, but you can still join us for the remainder of our fall book club exploring Vera Rubin and Mae Jemison through books about their lives, discoveries and journeys in science.
Back to School!
We’re officially back to school this month, which means that our STEAM initiative is back in full swing! Any K-12 school in Kitsap County is invited to come to the observatory for a free field trip to learn about the stars.
