Another Geek Girl Con in the Books!
Our Education Director Erin Howard reported another successful year at Geek Girl Con! Kids and adults learned how solar and lunar eclipses worked (and what the difference is!) with Yardstick Eclipse, and they learned how far away (or comparatively close!) the planets are by making a Pocket Solar System. They went through over 600 planet stickers and a whole roll of receipt tape!
Quiz Yourself:
-
If the distance between the Sun and Pluto was only 1 yard (36 inches), what planet would be at the halfway point?
-
If the Earth was shrunk to one inch in diameter, how big would the moon be? On this same scale, how far away would the moon be from Earth?
