We are grateful for our amazing volunteers! Lots of ways to connect with Battle Point Observatory this September. Check out descriptions below, and sign up as a volunteer at https://bpastro.org/volunteer/ to see more details.
Second Saturday Science Talk (Saturday September 13) and Cosmic Conversations (Tuesday September 16) Event volunteers
These two are our monthly evening Science talks, and a mix of in-person and online attendance via Zoom. Looking for volunteers onsite at the Observatory for set-up, to help admit registered guests, and if you have computer skills to turn on and manage the Zoom connection. After the Second Saturday we’ll have a Star Party if skies are clear, looking for night owl volunteers to help with telescopes!
Astronomy class teaching assistant (Saturday September 13) – Experience with children ages 8-12
Help our Education Director and Programming Coordinator run a morning BI Parks astronomy class for kids! NOTE: this volunteer role does require an additional background check, as you’ll be working with youth.
Equinox Under the Stars (partnership event with IslandWood) (Saturday September 20)
Volunteer for a special evening event at Battle Point Observatory, we are inviting IslandWood and Observatory attendees for a night with a planetarium show about the equinox, a tour of the Observatory, and (if clear skies) telescope viewing stations. Volunteers for event set-up, docents, table host, and telescope management.
Observatory Tour Docents (flexible)
If you can volunteer on a regular basis and enjoy talking to people about all the Observatory offers, join us as a Tour Docent! Training opportunities happening this Fall.
