Dark Sky Events
Jointly presented by DarkSky Olympic Peninsula and Battle Point Observatory
Celebrate Dark Skies in the month of April & beyond! Dark sky conservation benefits wildlife and their habitats, reduces health and safety risks to humans, saves energy and reduces costs. Light pollution has devastating effects on migrating birds, native plants, and pollinators. Learn how small changes in our own backyard can make a difference.
Join us as we “go dark” to explore the night and take action to protect dark skies worldwide.
Events at Battle Point Observatory are at 10800 Battle Point Drive NE, Bainbridge Island, WA. Questions? Please reach out to info@bpastro.org.

NOTE: On April 28th, the BPO Book Club had our first discussion based on this dark sky book! The book offers a wonder-filled blend of night time explorations taken by the author accompanied by scientific data about the myriad deleterious effects of light pollution. Our Book Club conversation inspired us to begin imagining how we might contribute to raising awareness. Ideas ranged from appearing before congress to designing humorous bumper stickers and/or window cling-ons to encouraging others to join the next book club discussion.
