Code of Conduct
Battle Point Astronomical Association
This Code of Conduct establishes the expectations for behavior for all Board members, staff and volunteers when representing or participating in Battle Point Astronomical Association (BPAA) at sponsored events, programs and activities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for everyone involved.
- Respect and Inclusivity: BPAA is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.
- Open Communication:
- Be mindful of your actions and language, as they represent our organization at all times.
- Aim for mutual understanding and compromise. Address concerns directly and promptly with the individual(s) involved, whenever possible.
- Attempt to resolve disagreements privately and informally before elevating to BPAA leadership. Do not share details with individuals not directly involved in resolving the matter.
- Representation at Other Venues: When attending events or activities representing BPAA at other venues, adhere to this code of conduct.
- Safety: Adhere to all safety instructions and guidelines during BPAA hosted events and while working at the Observatory or in Battle Point Park.
- Substance Use Zero-Tolerance Policy: BPAA maintains a drug- and alcohol-free workplace. Alcohol may be served at designated events.
- Supervision of Children: Unless otherwise given written approval from the BPAA President, children 14 and under must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or teacher at all times during BPAA-sponsored or other events on BPAA property.
- Reporting Violations: Any violations of this code of conduct should be reported to BPAA board members or event organizers in a timely way for appropriate review and action.
Anyone not complying with this Code of Conduct will be asked to leave the BPAA premises and may be barred from future access to BPAA facilities and programs.
All board members, employees, and volunteers must review and acknowledge this code of conduct.
