Kitsap Electronic Outdoor Sign Ordinance – A Threat to the BPAA

The Kitsap County Planning Commission will be adopting a new sign code on November 10 that covers unincorporated towns. The Outdoor Advertising Industry has been strategically targeting unincorporated counties to get the code changed first for electronic signs and then to introduce digital billboards in these areas.

The light pollution from these signs would have major negative impact to Kitsap County. Once up a sign is up, it is impossible to get them down. The only strategy that makes sense is to PROHIBIT ELECTRONIC SIGNS. Other regulations are unenforceable – they cannot be monitored/policed for compliance.

Your input on the many consequences of light pollution is invaluable and should be shared with the Commissioners.

The public comment period is closed but the Commissioners can continue to receive input prior to the November 10 date.

Please email them and let them know your feelings.
